The Abbey of Grottaferrata was founded in 1004 by the monk S. Nilo. In 1482 Cardinal Giulio della Rovere erected the castle and surrounded the whole monastery with the imposing fortifications that still exist.
The drawing was glued on a cardboard, originally numbered 5.34, and kept in a portfolio. Title from note on the original cardboard. Forms part of: Library Collection. Drawings.
