Emissarius of the lake Albano
Hakewill, James, 1778-1843 (draftsman)
April 1817
1 drawing : graphite ; 14 x 21.4 cm.
The emissarium still keeps the level of the water of the lake constant. The entrance in the drawing is a vaulted room in opus quadratum with pilasters of peperino. The water enters the conduit through this courtyard, regulated by a slluice-gate. The holm-oak tree in the top half of the drawing was one of the attractions of the site. This is basically the same picture as n. 166, but in a different format.
The drawing was glued on a cardboard, originally numbered 5.12, and kept in a portfolio. Title from note on the original cardboard. Forms part of: Library Collection. Drawings.
